Toys And Candy For Afghanistan

OSWEGO, NY – On Thursday, Jeff and Terry Baum told the Oswego Sunrise Rotary club about their son, 1st Lt Justin Baum, helping children in Afghanistan.

Lt. Baum is am member of the 91st Battalion, Military Police, stationed at Fort Drum and currently on duty in Afghanistan.

He first visited the Oswego Sunrise Club seven years ago to talk about his experiences as an Eagle Scout.

He has graduate from RIT on a ROTC scholarship and was commission as a lieutenant in the Army.

Lt. Baum asked to be assigned to Camp Drum and was assigned to his current duty training the Afghanistan Police.

He found that children threw rocks at his troops.

He asked his parents to send him toys and candy for the children.

Many groups have collected to send toys, candy and supplies to the troops.

Making peace with the children helps the Americans earn their trust.
