Tri-Oswego 2013 Triathlon Returns to Oswego June 15

OSWEGO, NY – The 2013 Tri-Oswego Triathlon is set for June 15 in Oswego, according to Tri-Oswego Race Director Shane Broadwell.

The third-annual event will showcase athletes from throughout the Northeastern United States and Canada. Novelis Oswego Works has been named the presenting sponsor of the Tri-Oswego once again this year.

“We are very excited about the upcoming Tri-Oswego event,” said Broadwell.

“The triathlon continues to grow each year in participants and sponsors, and the committee is working hard to make this year’s event the best yet.”

The Tri-Oswego includes a Sprint and Intermediate event. The Sprint level has an 800-meter swim, 15.4-mile bike course and a 5K Run.  The Intermediate level consists of a 1500- meter swim, 25.6 -mile bike course and a 10K run.

The swim portion of the event will take place inside the lighthouse breakwall in Lake Ontario.

The bike course follows the scenic route alongside Lake Ontario, enters the SUNY Oswego campus, goes into a rural area then returns back to the City of Oswego.

The running leg of the event starts along the lake, enters the SUNY Oswego campus and again returns to the city.

“The landscape of Oswego’s waterfront and terrain provides the perfect venue for our athletes,” said Broadwell.  “The feedback of our triathlon courses have been very positive over the years.”

The costs for participants that register between March 1 and April 30 is $90 for the Sprint, $105 for the intermediate, and $210 for the Sprint Relay.

Athletes that register between May 1 and June 7 will pay $100 for the Sprint, $110 Intermediate and $240 for the Sprint Relay.

There are no refunds and registrations are nontransferable.

Participants under the age of 18 must have a parent or guardian sign for approval.

All proceeds will benefit youth development programs throughout Oswego County through the Oswego County Sunset Group.
