United Way Accepting Funding Requests

FULTON, NY – With the United Way of Greater Oswego County preparing for its upcoming funding process the agency would like to extend an invitation to human services agencies in Oswego County who have a program that they would like to be considered for funding through the United Way.

To be considered for funding agencies must be a tax-exempt organization under section 501(c) 3 of the IRS tax code, or be determined as an agency that utilizes funds for 501 (c) 4 purposes.

The United Way’s funding process provides funds to specific agency programs that have an identified target population and offers one or more services directed at impacting a single human service need or problem area.

Funding must be used solely for an approved program and the agency must be able to identify specific client outcomes for the program.

The program must also serve one of the five priority areas that the United Way has identified, those being: emergency services, children and family services, Health and Special Needs, Senior Services, and Youth Development.

The United Way’s Community Investment Committee will review all applications.

Comprised entirely of concerned community members, the United Way’s Community Investment Committee is responsible for evaluating various agency programs that are available in Oswego County and recommending to the United Way Board of Directors the funding support that these programs should receive.

Members of the Community Investment Committee serve on one of the five panels that correspond with the United Way’s priority areas.

As part of the funding process, committee members visit agencies that offer programs related to their specific field of service so that they may tour the agency and learn more about the services and programs that the agency offers.

While the United Way’s program funding process does not begin until April, the United Way is currently accepting applications from agencies that have programs that they would like to be considered for funding.
