FULTON, NY – The United Way of Greater Oswego County presented the Oswego JC Penney Store with the Leadership and Commitment Award at the United Way’s annual meeting held March 9 at the American Foundry.
Under the leadership and encouragement of store manger Jeff Bame, the JC Penney campaign for the United Way, coordinated by Karen Walker, with assistance from Katie Simoneau, achieved 97% participation, the highest for any JC Penney store in the eastern region.
In addition to payroll deduction, JC Penney employees held a number of fundraisers to benefit the United Way.
Steve Doty of Constellation Energy Nuclear Group presented Bame with the award.
“The Corporate Leadership and Commitment Award recognizes a company or organization who are leaders in educating their employees on the needs of the community, inspiring them to support their local United Way. At Constellation Energy Nuclear Group, one of our core values is community responsibility. We encourage our employees to invest time and resources to help those in need. I am honored to present this award to the Oswego JC Penney Store, a company that has done an outstanding job modeling this value,” he said.
