OSWEGO COUNTY – Oswego County announces the completion of a video media project with the program, “Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid.” Tune in to Fox Business Network between 8 and 11 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 5 to view a commercial for the full seven-minute video, which is set to air on regional PBS stations during the month of February.
“Oswego County is poised to grow and prosper in the coming years, thanks to initiatives such as Micron’s Central New York investment and NOAA’s designation of the Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary,” said Oswego County Administrator Philip Church. “This video highlights our readiness to move forward and shows audiences that we are well-positioned to take advantage of opportunities that may come our way.
Oswego County began working with Viewpoint producers last year to develop an educational product showcasing all that the county has to offer for potential new residents, businesses and visitors.
“We are uniquely situated in Central New York,” Church added. “We’re close enough to have a significant role in regional business development and tourism prospects, while maintaining the unique characteristics of our neighborhoods and communities. This project helps tell our story – from the rich heritage upon which we were founded to the bright future we see ahead for ourselves.”
In addition to County Administrator Church, Viewpoint producers also interviewed Austin Wheelock, executive director of Operation Oswego County; Rachel Pierce, executive director of Oswego County Workforce Development; Kristi Eck, assistant vice president of workforce innovation and external relations at SUNY Oswego; Kristen Nelson, plant manager for Novelis Oswego; Michael Szidat, CEO of Felix Schoeller, Inc.; and Vinny Lobdell, entrepreneur, investor and philanthropist.
Viewpoint’s creative team came to Oswego County to explore and capture images highlighting community life, education, business environments and recreational activities. They included stops in Constantia, Mexico, Phoenix, Pulaski and Oswego to take video of Lake Ontario and Oneida Lake, the Oswego and Salmon rivers, and sites such as Lock 1 Distillery, Salmon River Falls and Vanderkamp.
Additional footage was provided to Viewpoint, highlighting lake and river fishing, scuba diving, camping, boating, ice-climbing and fat tire biking. Images of other sites provided to their production team included Casey’s Cottage, Felix Schoeller, Inc., Fort Brewerton, Fort Ontario State Historic Site, the H. Lee White Maritime Museum, Novelis Oswego, Oswego Speedway, Safe Haven Holocaust Refugee Shelter Museum, Sandy Island State Park, SUNY Oswego and Winona Forest State Park.
“Viewpoint with Dennis Quaid” is a public television program that highlights various industries and causes around the world. Program segments are presented in a short-form documentary style to inspire audiences to learn more about organizations, communities and topics.
Fox Business Network is located on channel 206 for Spectrum TV and channel 359 for DIRECTV. It’s also available on streaming platforms Fubo, Hulu+ Live TV, Sling and YouTube TV.
The full video can be viewed on the Viewpoint website or on the Oswego County YouTube channel under the title, “A Bright Future For Oswego County.”
