Village of Cleveland 9/11 Ceremony of Remembrance & 9/11 Memorial Dedication

September 11, 2011 marks the 10th anniversary of the devastating attack which changed our lives forever. The Village of Cleveland will mark this date with several observances.

There will be an ecumenical service at St. Mary’s Church on State Route 49 at 11AM. The entire community is invited.

At 6:15PM residents are invited to assemble at Cleveland Elementary School for a Silent Vigil Walk to begin at 6:30PM. We will walk up State Route 49 to Lakeview Park where a Ceremony of Remembrance will include prayers, an address by hometown son Navy Commander Christopher Flaherty, the ringing of “the four fives” by the Cleveland Volunteer Fire Department, a rifle salute by American Legion Post 858 Honor Guard, and patriotic selections by the Northshore Community Chorus.

During the Ceremony our community will dedicate the new 9/11 Memorial Gazebo which has been constructed with private donations at Lakeview Park. This is a momentous achievement which has been fulfilled after almost 10 years of planning.

Following the Ceremony the entire community is invited to Raymond-Faulkner-Cook American Legion Post #858 for a reception and free refreshments.
