VOLNEY, NY – Volney Elementary School fifth graders recently held an afternoon science showcase.

They displayed trifold projects full of facts about star classifications and types of galaxies.
Students could complete the project-based learning activity by themselves or with a partner.
Autumn Warring said she and partner David Matthews shared galaxy research information as they progressed through the activity.

Students were not allowed to download and print materials.
They had to recreate stars or galaxies with their own drawings.
Fifth grade teacher Deborah Arden said the showcase served as a means for students to have an audience for their hard work.
