Hastings-Mallory Elementary School students continue to make a difference in the lives of local sick and injured children through their participation in the school’s walk-a-thon fundraiser.

Proceeds of the annual parent teacher organization-sponsored event will be donated to Golisano Children’s Hospital in Syracuse, in honor of Deegan Funke, a former student who died in 2010 after a 10.5-month battle with cancer.
Prior to walk-a-thon, students collected pledges from family and community members.
Physical education teacher Stafford Spreter and several other staff members ran or walked alongside students during the June 10 event.
For their efforts, students were treated to a freeze pop upon their participation in the walk-a-thon.
