OSWEGO – William Galloway, owner of Century 21 Galloway Realty in Oswego, discussed opportunities and challenges facing the local real estate market at the Oswego Rotary Club’s weekly meeting on Tuesday, October 13, 2026, according to a release from the club.

Galloway began working in the family business in 1980. He credited his loyal agents and their teamwork for what he described as the office’s position as the number one Century 21 office in New York State for the past five years.

Galloway identified community growth as an opportunity for the industry. He cited Micron’s development in the region, the possibility of a third nuclear plant and investments by other companies and individuals in Oswego as factors that could contribute to that growth.

The main challenge, he said, is a lack of inventory. Many potential sellers are reluctant to sell because they have mortgages with much lower interest rates. He said the imbalance between supply and demand has driven home prices higher, and identified overregulation and red tape as other factors limiting supply.

Galloway called for a proactive approach to the imbalance, with government and businesses working together to create an environment in which the challenge can be addressed. He said that includes building additional infrastructure and helping to cut through red tape. He said there is, and will continue to be, a need for single-family homes, townhouses, apartments and condominiums.

The Oswego Rotary Club meets weekly, and its members welcome opportunities to learn about community issues and concerns. For more information, visit facebook.com/oswegorotary.
