Writing for Young People: From Make Believe To Manuscript

Fulton, NY – After hosting a successful writing program for the local youth in February, the CNY Arts Center has announced another program for ages 9 to 14, to be held May 19 at the Fulton Public Library.

The one-day workshop, cleverly titled “From Make Believe to Manuscript,” will be led by local author and poet Jim Farfaglia and will run from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Students learn to capture the make believe of their imaginations in this recent writing workshop with Jim Farfaglia.

During this time, students will be able to engage in writing activities and receive instruction from Farfaglia that will help them turn their ideas into a cohesive writing piece. The CNY Arts Center will also be providing the students with lunch.

The stories that the students develop may even be used in a writing compilation Farfaglia and the Arts Center are putting together.

“We are currently working on a book of writing by local youth and this class will help young people create something for the book,” Farfaglia noted.”

Young writers who are interested in all genres, including fiction, short story, non-fiction, poetry, song lyrics and news reporting are all encouraged to join the class. Students are welcome to bring any writing they are currently working on, and all students should bring a notebook and writing utensil.

Class size is limited and will be accepted on a first come- first serve basis.

A fee for the class will be charged, but financial assistance to help with the fee is available.
