TIFFIN, OHIO – Meghan Yost, a resident of Mexico, who is majoring in History and Political Science, has been inducted into the Heidelberg University Honor Society, the university’s only all-scholastic honor society.
The 2016 Honor Society class includes 33 seniors; most will graduate in May while others completed degree requirements in December 2015.
The induction ceremony was part of Heidelberg’s annual Academic Excellence Recognition Dinner, held on April 2.
Also honored at the dinner were students who will graduate from Heidelberg’s Honors Program and those who have achieved dean’s list recognition for each of their semesters.
Created in 1933 by faculty to recognize and promote scholarship in the liberal arts and modeled after Phi Beta Kappa, the Honor Society is and maintained by faculty and staff who are themselves members. To qualify, students must be seniors with a 3.5 or better grade-point average who rank in the top 15 percent of their class and who will have completed 60 credit hours by semester’s end.
Founded in 1850, Heidelberg offers 30 majors, 30 minors and 10 pre-professional programs, awarding the bachelor of arts, bachelor of science, bachelor of music degrees, as well as master’s degrees in education, counseling, business administration and music.
