OSWEGO, NY – The USTA Tennis Program in partnership with the Oswego City-County Youth Bureau will hold youth tennis tournaments from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 9 and Saturday, Aug. 16 at the Oswego High School tennis courts.

Children ages five to eight will compete Aug. 9, and children ages nine to 12 will compete Aug. 16.

Each participant will be guaranteed two matches and prizes will be awarded to all players.

The format for the tournaments will be similar to the USTA quick-start format.

Each match will be determined by the player who wins the best out of five games.

The games will be awarded to the player who reaches seven points first.

All equipment, including racquets and balls, will be provided by the Youth Bureau.

Players should bring their own water bottles, sneakers and sunscreen.

Volunteers will be on hand to help with scoring and to register all players.

Registration will begin each day at noon and the matches will begin by 12:30.

The youth tennis tournaments are designed to get participants excited about the game of tennis and to encourage an active lifestyle for children.

AmeriCorps member tennis instructors Kevin Bobbett and Leigh Bergman and Oswego City-County Youth Bureau tennis instructor Megan Andolina are organizing the tournaments.
