OSWEGO – What started with a conversation among friends years ago at St. Luke Health Services has now become a much anticipated annual event when a group of employees from Eagle Beverage Inc., made their annual visit to residents at St. Luke Health Services and brought along some beer and other specialty beverages for residents to sample and enjoy, along with a few mementos of the occasion as well.
“Who doesn’t look forward to a favorite adult beverage from time to time and our residents are no exception,” said Donna Rose, director of activities. “Eagle Beverage has been generous enough to be making this annual visit and we thank Dan Dorsey Jr. and everyone from Eagle Beverage who visited, for not only serving-up the beverages, but for taking the time to visit with our folks and share a few laughs.”
By the time the beer delivery truck backed up to an entrance at St. Luke, residents had gathered in the Riverview Room ready to enjoy an afternoon of friendly conversation and of course to sample the many different beverages the employees from Eagle Beverage brought along with them.
Residents also enjoyed some special “pub fare” made by the St. Luke Dietary Department.
“Eight years ago three residents who were close friends would half-jokingly asked our clinical nutrition manager Bernice Strother when they could expect a beer delivery, as they used to enjoy a beverage together,” Rose said. “So at the time Bernice did them one better and reached out to Dan Dorsey Sr. at Eagle Beverage who immediately made arrangements. Not only did the three friends (and many other St. Luke residents) get a beer delivery that year, Mr. Dorsey personally accompanied a group of Eagle Beverage employees on the visit and now thanks to Dan Dorsey Jr. who has continued the tradition, the annual Eagle Beverage beer truck delivery is a much anticipated fall event at St. Luke and a great source of fun for all who join in the revelry.”
