Early Goal Leads To Oswego Loss

OSWEGO, NY – The Oswego State men’s soccer team fell to Fredonia on Friday afternoon at home by a score of 1-0.

With the loss, the Lakers move to 2-8-2 on the season and 1-3-1 in the conference.

Fredonia’s record goes to 8-1-3, 2-0-2.

The Laker squad wore pink camouflage uniforms during the contest in order to raise awareness for breast cancer.

Oswego fell behind early as the Blue Devils’ Vinny Chimento put a through-ball in to Ryan Ross. Laker keeper Todd Lawson came off of his line to stop it but Ross was able to sneak past the keeper and score 7:18 into the game.

The Lakers were able to hold Fredonia off after that and ended the half trailing only by one.

The squad created plenty of opportunities in the second half but couldn’t find the back of the net.

Josh Yager had a good chance off of a strong header coming from a corner but Fredonia’s keeper was able to make the stop.

Connor Lunduski led everyone on the field with three shots-on-goal.

Lawson came away with game-high eight saves for Oswego State.

Men’s soccer continues its SUNYAC play with a home game at 1 p.m. on Saturday against Buffalo State.
