Oswego, NY – One of Central New York’s premier jazz vocalists, Nancy Kelly will showcase her unique vocal style with a free, live performance beginning at 6 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th during Fulton’s Jazz Fest.
A native of Rochester, Nancy Kelly, who studied voice at the Eastman School of Music, has been performing professionally since forming her first combo at the age of sixteen. As a jazz artist, Kelly has performed throughout the world including regular performances at some of New York City’s most prestigious clubs such as The Blue Note, Birdland, and Dizzy’s Coca Cola Club at Lincoln Center. She continues to dazzle audiences with her take-no-prisoners, back-to-the-roots swinging style and has appeared at numerous jazz festivals and has sung with various symphony orchestras around the country. Kelly was twice named “Best Female Jazz Vocalist†in the Down Beat Readers’ Poll and has recorded four CDs, the most recent being “Well Alright” with guest tenor saxophonist Houston Person.
Coordinated by the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and the City of Fulton, and sponsored by Eagle Beverage and Budweiser, Fulton’s Jazz Fest will be held Friday, August 7th from 5 to 11 p.m. and Saturday, August 8th from 3 to 11 p.m. behind the Fulton War Memorial on West Broadway in Fulton. Jazz Fest features two days of food, fun, and music from some of Central New York’s hottest musicians.
Other performers scheduled to appear at Jazz Fest include, the Do Good Swing Band at 5:30 pm on Friday, August 7th; The Critics, featuring Joanna Jewett on vocals, the dynamic sounds of the Cortini Brothers rhythm section, and The Critics famous horn section, at 8 p.m. on Friday, August 7th; Melvin Sparks at 3 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th and Classified at 8 p.m. on Saturday, August 8th.
