The H. Lee White Marine Museum, which is located at the end of Oswego’s West First Street Pier, is the place to be this month as they once again present “December Excitement.” Hours of operation are 1-5pm daily until the 23rd, and the Museum’s ‘Treasure Chest” gift shop is open to browse for free during those hours.

As a celebration of the holidays, admission to the exhibits will be reduced to $3 for adults and will be FREE to anyone 12 and younger.

The Oswego Valley Railroad Association is already preparing displays of model trains throughout the festively decorated building. Their main presentation will be an astoundingly detailed nautical village, surrounding the Museum’s main holiday tree.

Other themed trees on display this month include a fishing tree and a winter wonderland tree.

As a special treat, a temporary display of nautical paintings by local artist Tim Ames will also be featured. Subject matter includes the Oswego Lighthouse, a Lake Ontario sunset and other local sights.

Mr. Ames is a native of Oswego and decided to retire in this area. Approximately ten years ago he started a new hobby…painting … and it quickly became an integral part of his life.

He has won numerous awards in Central New York art shows, including a number of 1st place awards and a Best of Show. He is a member of the Fulton Art Association, Art Association of Oswego, Salmon River Art Association, Central New York Art Guild and the Oswego Art Cooperative.
