OSWEGO – Prizes were awarded at the opening of the 2026 Art Association of Oswego (AAO) Member’s Show on Saturday, July 11th. The AAO awarded three major prizes for the First, Second, and Third Place entries, and also awarded three Honorable Mention prizes and three special awards.
The First Place Award went to Douglas Farden for Fishing for Fashion, his acrylic painting depicting a beautiful array of colorful fish inspired by his recent visit to an aquarium in Phoenix, AZ. The Second Place Award went to Josephine Wahrendorf’s watercolor painting titled Milkweed. The Third Place Award went to Robert Love for Walnut Platter, his large wood turning depicting the natural beauty of the walnut wood grain.
In addition to the Member’s Show in the upstairs Tim McHenry Gallery, Mike Flanagan is displaying a large-scale mixed media work inspired by natural history dioramas in the downstairs Kirk Beason Gallery. This dramatic work depicts a wall-sized landscape painting mixed with natural history pieces including taxidermy, branches, and stone. Complimenting this impressive work are several smaller artworks reflecting Flanagan’s life-long interest in landscape and the natural world. Finally, the downstairs Alcove Gallery displays more of Josephine Wahrendorf’s, the second place winner, delightful watercolor paintings.
These exhibitions will be on display for the public to view until August 9th. The gallery hours are Saturday 10 am to 1 pm, Sunday 1 pm to 4 pm, Wednesday 10 am to 1 pm, and Thursday 5 pm to 8 pm.
