OSWEGO COUNTY – The Salmon River Fine Arts Center is asking you to channel your inner artist and create art for their annual 6 x 6 Community Art Show and fundraiser. This is the final week to create and donate your art; the deadline is Saturday, April 11, 2026 at 2 pm. Participation is free and open to anyone, any age. You don’t have to be an “artist” to participate and any medium and material is accepted as long as it is exactly 6 inches by 6 inches.
How does it work? No fee to participate, the art is your donation and displayed to create an atmosphere of anonymity and fun as you guess who might have created what. The artist’s name is only revealed at time of purchase. No frames or mats, as all work will be taped or hung directly to the wall in rows making the whole gallery look like an amazing piece of community art. Each piece, whether it is done by a professional artist and worth over $100 or by your grandchild, is all sold for $15 each. Proceeds directly support the Salmon River Fine Arts Center, a small community minded and very active not-for-profit providing a variety of exhibits, discounted classes and programs for all ages and skill levels.
Not sure how to start? Consider creating your small art when you get together with friends and family. “It’s fun and inspiring to create with others,” says Ann Buchau, the visionary behind the show. “Simply have 6 x 6 canvas, boards, paper, or whatever substrate you have and bring out any art and craft supplies and see what happens.”
The arts center will also be hosting a free 6 x 6 open studio on Tuesday evening, April 7th providing supplies and tools in the studio space of the arts center for anyone in the community who wants to create and donate a 6 x 6 work of art.
The exhibit will be on display for early preview on April 16th. There is an invitation only VIP reception for the center’s gold members on Friday, April 17th with the opportunity for early purchases. Purchases are open to the public in person and online beginning Saturday, April 18th at 10 am. Those interested in becoming a gold member for early purchase privileges can sign up here.
