Alliance Bank Partners With RSVP For Music And Dance Series

OSWEGO, NY – Oswego’s Retired & Senior Volunteer Program is swinging back to the Oswego Elks Lodge for its popular USOswego Music and Dance Series on Nov. 20, and doing so with the support of Alliance Bank.

According to Ellen Wahl, executive director at RSVP of Oswego County, Alliance Bank has joined on as partner with the organization and the popular big band event.

“We greatly appreciate the support of Alliance Bank for their sponsorship of the music and dance series,” Wahl said. “Our October concert recently showcased their support, but their contribution will greatly benefit the event year-around.”

The Do Good Swing Band will once again be providing the sounds for the night, led by Don Goodness and its authentic 17-piece 1940s-era swing band.

Free waltz lessons will be available from Howard and Karen Willis from 5-6 p.m., prior to the live music that runs from 6-9 p.m.

The cover charge is at 1940s prices for those who are having dinner.

The cost is $5 for those who come just to dance.

“We’re looking forward to another wonderful evening of music and dance,” said Wahl. “And, welcome the community to come out and enjoy themselves in this wonderful nightclub outlet.”

RSVP is part of the National Senior Service Corps., a network of federally sponsored programs that help Americans age 55 and older find opportunities to address community needs through service.

The program is under the local sponsorship of Oswego State University and the United Way of Greater Oswego County.

More than 700 volunteers participate in the program and donate their time and expertise to many local organizations including: Oswego Hospital, Oswego County Promotion and Tourism, Oswego Public Library, the H. Lee White Marine Museum, Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and others.

The Oswego RSVP office is located in Rich Hall on the SUNY Oswego campus.
