OSWEGO, NY – Fort Ontario in Oswego will be the site of three fun-filled family events on Sept. 6.

Ontario Winds and the NYS Department of Parks, Recreation, and Historic Preservation are presenting the sixth annual Fort Ontario Fall Fun Fly from 10 a.m. – 5 p.m.
From 11 a.m. – 4 p.m. there will also be the Literacy Volunteers “Feed the Need to Read†event and the Oswego Lions Club third annual Child Safety Day and Cow Chip Bingo.
The events are for the whole family and various activities will be presented throughout the day.
The literacy event will kick off with a 1K Family Fun Walk from 11 a.m. – noon.
Participants are encouraged to dress as their favorite storybook characters as there will be best costume prizes awarded at the end of the walk.
Participants at the event will be eligible for prize drawings by visiting all vendor tables along the walk and at the literacy tent.
T-shirts and goodie bags will be available for the first 100 registrants.
Ontario Winds will be presenting kite making, kite exhibitions and flying, along with games and candy drops.
Air Hop will also be available.
Oswego Lions Club will be distributing free bike helmets to the first 100 children.
Also planned are a bike rodeo, vision screenings, “Operation Safe Child,†skateboard demonstrations and much more.
The Lions Club will also be holding its third annual Cow Chip Bingo Scholarship Fundraiser.
Refreshments will be available for purchase from the VFW.
