OSWEGO, NY – Plans are under way for the 2009 Warm Up Oswego Festival being held Feb. 7, 2009.
Warm Up Oswego is a way to celebrate the winter season and encourage people to venture outdoors during those months.
The steering committee is a collaboration of businesses and not for profit organizations that are pitching in to celebrate Oswego in the winter and to support the Oswego YMCA Armory renovations.
The day-long festival is held in downtown Oswego and includes a large number of events. Among the most popular of these events is the Human Dog Sled Competition, which consists of several four-person teams dressed in wacky costumes competing for titles ranging from fastest team to best dressed.
There will be plenty of activity at different venues around the town, during the course of the day and evening.
Activities include the Hot Scavenger Hunt starting at the Oswego YMCA Armory.
Visit each participating Oswego store and restaurant to complete a winning entry for prizes.
Tour Oswego’s interesting downtown shops and get a Warm Up festival necklace at each shop.
Entertainers are being featured throughout the day at the Oswego Armory along with a variety of food and craft vendors.
Other events include a Warm Up 2K Fun Run/Walk and a Snow Sculpture contest.
The festival ends with a fireworks display by Auburn Telstar, which organizers claim rivals those on the Fourth of July.
