FULTON – The Fulton Art Association is pleased to announce the winners of the sixteenth High School Invitational Art and Photography Show held at The Art Scene, CNY Arts Center in Fulton on March 15-16, 2025. Sixty-three students from high schools in Fulton, Hannibal, Oswego, and Phoenix school districts submitted 87 pieces of artwork in 11 medium categories. The show was created to help provide encouragement and guidance to high school artists and provide them a venue to display their talent and artwork. Carolyn House Mosier, long-time FAA member, former President, and instructor at Fulton’s Cayuga Community College, and William DeMott, also an art instructor at Fulton’s Cayuga Community College, SUNY Oswego, and Monroe Community College, judged the show.
The award for Best of Show was awarded to Amaya Crutchley (11th grade – Phoenix) for her pen/ink entry in Drawing B/C entitled Jester.
In the Three-Dimensional category, VeeVi Anderson (12th grade – Oswego) received 1st place for “A Queen’s Downfall”. Honorable Mentions were given to Brianna LaCour (12th grade, Oswego) for two entries, “Empty” and “Machine” and to Harley Walpole (12th grade – Oswego) for “Appetite for Destruction”.
In the Acrylics medium, Giana Raponi (11th grade – Phoenix) was awarded 1st place for “A Matter for the Heart”. Second place was given to Kadae Hunley (12th grade – Oswego) for “Mona Lisa.”
In the Ceramics category, first place went to Serena DeLong (10th grade – Hannibal) for “S”, second place to Aiyanna Ashley (11th grade – Hannibal) for “The Beauty Within”, and Honorable Mentions to Olivia Kuc (12th grade – Hannibal) for “Octopus” and Lia Tetro (10th grade – Hannibal) for “Letter”.
In Computer Graphic Art, a second place was awarded to Payton Browngardt (10th grade – Hannibal) for “Smoky Mountains.”
In Drawing A (pencil, graphite, charcoal), first place went to Fulton 10th grader, Elliana Hotchkiss for her charcoal “Portrait I.”
In Drawing B/C (colored pencil, Prismacolor, markers, pastels, pen/ink), a first place was given to Meredith Wakefield (12th grade – Hannibal) for “Candy Skull Chronicles.”
In Drawing F (Scratchboarding and Wood burning), a first place was awarded to Olive Somers (11thgrade – Hannibal) for “HippopotaMoose” and two second place awards to Madison Papa (10th grade – Hannibal) for “Spider Shark” and Harley Somers (11th grade – Hannibal) for “Hedgasaurus.”
In Mixed Media, 1st place was given to Lily Amadon (12th grade – Phoenix) for “Gemstone I” and an Honorable Mention to Isabella Guan (9th grade – Hannibal) for “The Wave.”
In Photography, two second place awards were given to Savannah-Ann Harp (11th grade – Hannibal) for “The Cast of Sunrise” and Mariah Miner (10th grade – Hannibal) for “Golden Crystals.” Honorable Mentions were awarded to Fridjof Busch (12th grade – Hannibal) for “The Silhouette of Fall”, Abigail Felix (12th grade – Phoenix) for “Synthetic Air”, Katherine Kraft (12th grade – Phoenix) for “Reflection”, and Isabell Lindenman (11th grade – Hannibal) for “Through the Looking Glass.”
In Watercolors, an honorable mention was awarded to Clara Thingvoll (9th grade – Oswego) for “Bunny.”
A Special Award was given by FAA President Kathryn Mihalek and Art Scene Director Bonnie McClellan for a 3D entry by Josephine France (9th grade – Oswego) for her leather journal entitled “Dragonfly Journal.”
