Jazz Fest Brings Nancy Kelly To Fulton

FULTON, NY – One of Central New York’s premier jazz vocalists, Nancy Kelly, will showcase her unique vocal style with a free, live performance at 5 p.m. on Aug. 14 during Fulton’s Jazz Fest.

A native of Rochester, Kelly, who studied voice at the Eastman School of Music, has been performing professionally since forming her first combo at the age of 16.

As a jazz artist, Kelly has performed throughout the world including regular performances at some of New York City’s most prestigious clubs such as The Blue Note, Birdland, and Dizzy’s Coca Cola Club at Lincoln Center.

She continues to dazzle audiences with her take-no-prisoners, back-to-the-roots swinging style and has appeared at numerous jazz festivals and has sung with various symphony orchestras around the country.

Kelly was twice named “Best Female Jazz Vocalist” in the Down Beat Readers’ Poll and has recorded four CDs, the most recent being “Well Alright” with guest tenor saxophonist Houston Person.

Coordinated by the Greater Oswego-Fulton Chamber of Commerce and the city of Fulton and presented by Eagle Beverage and Pathfinder Bank, Jazz Fest features two days of food, fun and great jazz music.

There will be a wide variety of foods, including plenty of New Orleans inspired Cajun delicacies, and live performances on the Budweiser Jazz Fest Stage by both regionally and nationally renown Jazz musicians.

Jazz Fest is scheduled for Aug. 13 from 5:30 – 11:30 p.m. and Aug. 14 from 5 – 11:30 p.m. behind the Fulton War Memorial along C.W. Barrett Drive.

Other performers scheduled to appear at Jazz Fest include The Cortini Brothers featuring Joanna Jewett and Tommy Ciappa at 6:30 p.m. and Atlas at 8 p.m. on Aug. 13, renowned guitarist Melvin Sparks at 6:30 p.m. and Soul Injection at 8 p.m. on Aug. 14.

Food and refreshments will be available both days from some of the area’s finest eateries.

All performances are free and open to the public.
