FULTON – Monette Gentry is described in the script of Always A Bridesmaid as a kinda flashy and kinda trashy southern belle. She’s one of the four bridesmaids in the Jones-Wooten-Hope comedy that opens April 5th at the CNY Arts Center in Fulton. And Monette seems to have a habit of always picking the wrong kind of guy which has resulted in her marrying a number of times over the years. Her friends of 30 plus years never let her down, though, as they keep their promise of long ago to be in each other’s weddings. You can only imagine the antics that develop over this span of time as Libby, Deedra and Charlie all come together again and again in celebration of yet one more wedding.
And what a treat it is to see Jennifer Waugh “step up to the plate” and create this loveable character for two solid hours of giggles and downright out loud laughter.
In real life, Jenn is nothing like the character she plays. Jennifer is the proud mother of three very talented children! She broke into theater, upon moving back to the central New York area, almost seven years ago. Throughout her time in theater, she has participated in multiple plays and musicals. Among her favorite roles were being in the ensemble of “Grease” and “Elf, The Musical”, playing the part of Lucille in “Dearly Departed”, and bringing to life the character of “Candy” in the inaugural run of the play “Candy”!
And like all the roles Jennifer takes on, she shines in this hilarious comedy. Always a Bridesmaid plays April 5, 6, 7, 12, 13, 14. In the Art Scene theater, 121 Cayuga St. Fulton, NY. Adult tickets are $18. and Senior reservations go for $15. Call the box office at 315-598-2787 or go online at cnyartscenter.com and reserve your seat now.
