Lake Ontario International Film Festival Comes to Oswego April 2

OSWEGO –  The Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary partners with International Ocean Film Festival to host the inaugural Lake Ontario International Film Festival! The free festival takes place on Thursday, April 2 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, 26 E. First St., Oswego.

The event features inspiring ocean and Great Lakes films from across the world and opportunities to connect with sanctuary leaders and community members. A social reception will be held at 6 p.m., followed by film screenings from 7 to 9 p.m.

More than 10 films will be presented on a variety of topics, including newly discovered shipwrecks, the restoration of ancient great lakes species, arctic diving adventures, and inspiring stories of veterans, scientists and environmental stewards.

The Lake Ontario National Marine Sanctuary was designated in 2024 and encompasses more than 1,700 square miles in eastern Lake Ontario. It protects and showcases dozens of shipwrecks and other historically significant underwater assets.
