FULTON, NY – Rising Stars Theatre is currently in rehearsals for its summer production of “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat.”
Planned as a fundraiser for Fulton Community Theatre, the show will be presented in three performances, July 17, July 18 and July 19 on stage at G. Ray Bodley High School in Fulton. All shows start at 8 p.m.
“Those who saw our production of ‘Joseph’ in 2006 will be happy to see some familiar faces in this production, as well as a mix of new actors,” said Deb Pearson, co-founder of Rising Stars.
Returning for the role of Joseph, Andrew Denbleyker performed in Fulton Community Theatres production of the mega-musical in 2006.
“The role of Joseph really is Andrew’s part,” Pearson said. “His performance in 2006 stole the show. We couldn’t imagine presenting ‘Joseph’ again without him and we are so thrilled that he agreed to come back for it.”
The cast of Brothers shares an equal mix of new and returning actors from the 2006 production. Returning to the stage are Meghan Pearson, Sabrina Ervin, Zach Knight, Stephanie Powers and Joe Clark. New to Brother roles for the adult/child mixed theatre company are Jacob Bremkamp, Adam Schmidtman, Jordan Westfall, Sam Brazill and Taber Freeman.
“This is such a great show,” said Clark, Rising Stars co-founder who is cast as both a Brother and the Baker. “It is as much fun to perform as it is to watch.
“Having new people come in to work with those of us who were in the last show is fantastic,” Clark added. “There is such a wonderful mix of talent and personality in the group. Even through rehearsals, it is clear that the audience will really enjoy these performances.”
Rick Heagerty is in the role of “Jacob” and Jennifer Pearson will perform the part of “the Narrator.” Paul Clarke will perform as “Pharaoh” with Michael Spinoso as “Potiphar.” The cast also includes adult and children ensembles.
In addition to her acting role, Meghan Pearson is directing the production, as is Jordan Westfall, who is serving as assistant director. Shayne Knight is the musical director.
