OSWEGO — The Oswego High School Drama Club will present its Fall Drama Showcase at 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 6, and Saturday, Nov. 7, at Oswego High School. The variety-style production will feature over 25 student performers in a collection of theatrical scenes, monologues, comedic performances and stage combat demonstrations.
Unlike a traditional play, the showcase will give students the opportunity to explore a variety of characters, genres and acting techniques while highlighting their individual talents.
“I chose to do a theatre showcase instead of a traditional play because it allows me to include more students while giving each performer the opportunity to grow as an individual actor,” said Ceara Windhausen, OHS musical director and choreographer. “Our focus has been on exploring the acting techniques of Uta Hagen and Sanford Meisner, empowering students to self-direct their scenes and monologues while developing their character work, emotional connection and performance skills. Rather than focusing solely on putting on a production, this showcase allows each student to take ownership of their work, dig deeper into their craft and share their individual talents with an audience.”
The cast of this showcase includes Wyatt Baitsell, Alessia Braun, Ben Braun, Oliver Boudreau, Bricia Cantu, Keri Chudobski, Kevin Clifford, Bella Donoghue, Draya Evans, Elisa Feito, Steven Finn, Kayne Kerling, Nina King, Lyla Malley, Kaleb Ramirez, Natalie Ramirez-Hernandez, Lucas Rose, Madeleine Shaver, Miya Sheldon, Emily Simpson, Sophia Syrell, Nolan Verberg, Gabi Voss, Ed Weitz, Liam Weiss, Amelia Wentworth, and Chelsea Wright.
Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door by cash or check. Families, friends and community members are invited to attend and support the OHS students as they share their work and celebrate their growth as performers.
