OSWEGO, NY – Oswego Opera commemorates its 30th season with a festive weekend of opera, fine food and celebration.
Opening on Oct. 30 at 8 p.m. at Waterman Theatre, will be George Bizet’s ever popular Carmen.
A young professional cast will dazzle audiences, singing a powerful, new English translation.
Oswego Opera’s new Artistic Director, Mack Richardson, conducts Carmen, and also making her debut is stage director Rina Elisha.
A 30th Anniversary Gala will be held on Nov. 1 at 7 p.m. at the American Foundry.
Chef Steven Cook will delight taste buds with his culinary delicacies, while a feast for the ears will be presented by guest singers and opera alumni.
With assistance from SUNY Oswego Alumni Association, a reunion chorus will be assembled to sing choral favorites from past productions.
Oswego Opera alumni who are interested in singing in the Alumni Chorus are asked to call Mary Lou Bjorkman at Picture Connection 343-2908.
An Opera Reunion Brunch will be held on Nov. 2 at noon at the new SUNY Oswego Campus Center.
The event will be the perfect prelude to the matinee performance of Carmen, which will be performed at 2:30 p.m. in Waterman Theater.

Tickets for Carmen are available through the Tyler Hall Box Office (312-2141): Adults $25, Senior citizens $20 and Students $15.
Reservations for the 30th Anniversary Gala are $50 and can also be made through the Tyler Hall Box Office.
