Submitted article

This November, Oswego Players will present a special holiday production of, Frederick Stroppel’s dramatic comedy “The Christmas Spirit”. The play is Winner of the 2002 Florida Repertory Theatre Congress of Jewelers Play Series.

In the play, Julia Dowling has an unexpected visitor in the form of Death who appears to escort her off to the afterlife. However, since it is the day before Christmas,  Julia persuades Death to give her one more day to enjoy the holiday and invites him to be her guest at a festive party. The next day the house fills with bickering relatives, friends, the local priest – and Death, masquerading as a human, singing carols and drinking egg nog. Moments of high farce, drama and even romance arise as bright holiday fantasies collide with a not-so-merry reality.

Troy Pepper will direct this production which is slated to be presented on November 7, 8, 14, 15, at 8 p.m. and November 16 at 2 p.m. All performances will be held at the Frances Marion Brown Theater, in Oswego. .
