
OSWEGO – The Oswego Music Hall has invited the Oswego Opera Theater to guest-curate Oswegonian Rhapsody, the city’s first-ever Rock Opera Concert this May 31st. The showcase, which doubles as a fundraiser, includes twelve acts performing classic hits from rock operas and modern musicals.
“We’re excited to finally announce the full lineup of performers,” says co-planner Gina Mazzoli. “We have a dozen of your favorite local bands playing selections from your favorite rock operas, such as Tommy, Rocky Horror, The Wall, and many more.”
The full line-up includes:
Gary Dunes and Code Red – Gary has been entertaining audiences for nearly five decades, and this new energetic band delivers an exciting performance of timeless Pop/Rock classics from the 1960’s to the 2000’s.
Johnny Bletch’s Supergroup – Frostbit Blue’s Johnny Bletch has formed a “United Nations” of local musicians with an emphasis on progressive rock.
The Amazing Shakes – Described as “a crazy cacophony of Intergalactic Surf Punk that is guaranteed to get you jumping your jive and rattling your hum!”
Mary Horan – Celebrated jazz vocalist from Oswego, known for her soulful voice and captivating performances. Described as “Warm, sophisticated, professional jazz vocals.”
Bob Brown – Dinosaur FM radio personality known for his work in the title role of Jesus Christ Superstar for 30 years.
Test Kitchen – The new representative for hip vocal jazz music, taking on everything from jazz standards to modern pop and putting their own unique spin on it. Nominated for a Syracuse Area Music Award in the Best Jazz Album category.
The Jimi Marley Trio – Eclectic blend of reggae, blues, and rock.
The Goodnight Ladies – Singalong string duo that unites fiddle, banjo, and the audience to create folksy, family-friendly fun.
Tom Rasley – Multifaceted guitarist who has performed twice at the White House for the Christmas VIP tours.
Dan Williams and the Double D’s – Bombastic rock piano with elements of doo-wop.
Gina & Josh It Is! – Classically-trained duo mixing warm guitar with powerhouse vocals.
Larry Rapshaw – Local composer who will be presenting an original work.
“This many acts playing this many rock operas in Oswego, NY is absolutely unprecedented!” says co-planner Nicholas Gentile. “And at these ticket prices, you’re paying $2.08 per band. What a steal!”
Oswegonian Rhapsody begins 7pm on May 31st at the Oswego Music Hall (. Tickets are on sale now at oswegomusichall.org or can be purchased in person at the River’s End Bookstore. Procedes from this fundraiser benefit the Oswego Opera Theater.
