OSWEGO – Oswego’s Own Comedy Club will present a free evening of stand-up, sketches and improv at River’s End Bookstore at 6 p.m. Tuesday, October 20, 2026, to celebrate the first issue of Illustrated Thoughts, according to a release from Nicholas Gentile.
The humor magazine is written and designed by campus comedians. The release describes Oswego’s Own Comedy Club as SUNY Oswego’s only student organization dedicated to the comedic arts.
“It’s said that laughter is the best medicine,” club president Jacob Wallach said, “and our first-ever magazine ILLUSTRATED THOUGHTS is just the miracle panacea to ease you through flu season. Whether you have insurance or not, it’s entirely free for members of the Oswego public! We’ll be performing some of our most popular routines and then handing out free copies to anyone who wants an issue.”
Illustrated Thoughts is illustrated by Via Gacio-Perreto, a double major in Linguistics/TESOL, and made possible through PORTfolio: Chapbooks, Zines, and other Pocket-sized Publications for the Port City of Oswego, NY. The initiative is facilitated by Nicholas Gentile and made possible by a 2026 Statewide Community Regrant through CNY Arts, Inc.
River’s End Bookstore proprietor Emil Christmann said, “The River’s End has a long tradition of partnering with campus organizations to connect both city and college cultures. These young minds bring a lot of energy and ideas and it’s important we cultivate them however we can. Oswego’s more than just a great place to live, it’s somewhere you can learn and grow.”
“I just want to say,” illustrator Gacio-Perreto added, “it’s always an honor to work with local luminary Nicholas Gentile.”
“And you never know who will make it big in comedy,” Wallach said, “so keep in mind that these may very well turn into collector items! You might walk away with more than just a hilarious magazine… it might become your future eBay fortune!”
The public is invited to the free show at River’s End Bookstore, 19 W. Bridge St., Oswego, NY 13126. No reservation is needed. Free copies of Illustrated Thoughts will be distributed while supplies last.
