Quirk’s Players of G. Ray Bodley High School will begin their 2009-2010 season with the fast-paced farce, Don’t Tell Mother! Performances will be held Friday, November 13th and Saturday, November 14th in the G. Ray Bodley High School Auditorium. Curtain time is set for 7:30 pm both evenings.

Written by Monk Ferris, Don’t Tell Mother! centers around meek and mild Cinnamon Schmidt, a 35-year-old librarian who works at the library’s main branch in Downtown Chicago. Cinnamon is planning what she thinks will be a special evening at home, where she will introduce her fiancé to her mother over dinner. Her plans may be thwarted though when she becomes the sole eyewitness to a bank robbery during the day. She quickly returns to her apartment in the suburbs, and a federal agent is soon on the scene. Cinnamon learns that the bank robber is on his way to “take care of things.” With mistaken identities, oysters on the ceiling, horse gambling and a vacuum cleaner that attacks people, Cinnamon begins to think that the bank robber is the least of her worries!

Featured in GRB’s Production of Don’t Tell Mother! are a combination of veteran and new actors. Senior Silvie Castelluccio stars as Cinnamon Schmidt, while GRB Junior Clare Bawarski portrays Deedee Malone, Cinnamon’s neighbor and best friend. Kylee Greenleaf will play Cinnamon’s mother, Sarah Schmidt. Federal Agent Joe Shimko will be portrayed by Nate Hawthorne. The bank robber, Orville Maddox, is Alex Bawarski and his girlfriend, Rikki Tickey, is Morgan Stafford. The role of Cinnamon’s fiancé, Hobart Berelzheimer, will be performed by Senior Travis Cowart. Junior Gwen Gibson assumes the role of Hobart’s mother, Magda. Voices heard on the television will be those of Fulton Students Mark Wettering, Amanda Trombly and Neil Devendorf.

Don’t Tell Mother! is under the direction of Tom Briggs, theatre director at G. Ray Bodley High School. Rob Lescarbeau of the GRB English Dept. will serve as assistant director. Costumes are being designed by Debbie Ritchey of CNY Costumes, with wigs by Karen Procopio. Lighting will be designed by Tom Nami, a music teacher at GRB.

Quirk’s Players is the student theatre troupe at G. Ray Bodley High School. Named in memory of Mr. William Quirk, a long-time English teacher and theatre director at both Fulton High School and G. Ray Bodley High School, the group presents two main productions a year and participates in at least one high school theatre festival. Most recently, Quirk’s Players presented the southern comedy, Murder In The Magnolias as well as the Broadway musical, Once Upon A Mattress, last year.
