Oswego, NY – Five very talented bands, perfect weather and a great crowd took over the Oswego Speedway this past Saturday, August 14th for the inaugural Rev & Rock Classic Rock Festival.

Tribute bands including Jimmy Buffet’s Changes in Latitudes, Journey’s Separate Ways the Band, The Eagles’ Hotel California, and Aerosmith’s Draw the Line, joined Oswego’s own Frostbit Blue, for the event.

“The event was definitely deemed a success,” said Chuck Handley, event organizer. “The music was incredible, weather was perfect, and while you always wish for a capacity crowd for a first time event, we were very pleased with the thousands that attended the festival throughout the course of the day.

“The overall venue and amphitheatre-style set up for the concert also garnered a lot of positive feedback from those in attendance,” he added.

Gates opened at 1 p.m. to a steady crowd of “parrotheads” eager to see Changes in Latitudes, a Jimmy Buffet cover band. Fans were not disappointed as they danced and sang along to classics like Cheeseburger in Paradise and Margaritaville.

As the afternoon went on a steady stream of concert goers poured in to see the other bands including Separate Ways the Band, a Journey tribute band that rocked out classics like Faithfully and Don’t Stop Believing, behind the amazing vocals and energy of lead singer Dan Gagliano.

Oswego’s own Southern rock band Frostbit Blue played their hometown favorites including Summer Lover and Lake Ontario Twilight, just before Eagle fans were greeted by a dynamic performance by tribute band Hotel California. The band wowed the crowds with perfect renditions of songs including Take it Easy and of course Hotel California.

Wrapping up the evening was Draw the Line, the only endorsed Aerosmith tribute band. They had fans screaming Walk This Way and Sweet Emotion late into the evening as lead singer Neill Byrnes played a perfect tribute to Steven Tyler.

“The energy was incredible throughout the day,” said Shane Stepien, president of Step One Creative, an Oswego-based marketing firm that helped promote the event. “Hosting a first time event can be a challenge, but the support and enthusiasm of those that attended created a wonderful atmosphere.”

“We truly appreciate everyone who came out on Saturday, as well as the amazing bands, sponsors, volunteers, vendors, Oswego Speedway, Chuck Handley and everyone that made the event possible,” Stepien added.
