Second Annual Pottery Throwdown Returns August 22 Following a Successful Debut

OSWEGO – After drawing enthusiastic competitors and spectators to its inaugural event last year, the Art Association of Oswego (AAO) is excited to host its Second Annual Pottery Throwdown on Saturday, August 22, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. This event brings together local ceramic artists for an afternoon of creativity, friendly competition, and community fun. Prizes will be awarded.

Inspired by the popular pottery competition shows, the Pottery Throwdown features a series of timed clay challenges that test both technical skill and creativity. Competitors with wheel-throwing experience will put their abilities to the test before a live audience, making for an entertaining event for pottery enthusiasts and newcomers alike.

The Throwdown serves as a fundraiser for the Art Association of Oswego’s Pottery Studio. Building on the success of last year’s event, organizers hope to make the Pottery Throwdown an annual tradition that celebrates the region’s vibrant clay community. Competitor registration is now open. Participants should have prior wheel-throwing experience, as the challenges are designed for those with basic pottery skills, including hand-building. The AAO is located at 30 Barbara Donahue Drive, right across the street from Fort Ontario. This event benefits the Art Association of Oswego’s Pottery Studio so it can promote clay art through education, exhibitions and community engagement. Spectators of all ages are welcome.
