“This year’s cultural component for the festival is Great Britain/England,” said Harborfest Executive Director Tom Van Schaack. “The programming committee has come up with a great mix of music for this year’s festival, including music with a British flavor such as The Machine performing Pink Floyd. They’re the next best thing to the real Pink Floyd and fans are really going to love the entire show including the laser show that is incorporated into the concert.”

The Machine focuses on making every show an authentic Floydian experience for their fans, exploring collective improvisation paralleling and even rivaling that of an early 1970s Pink Floyd mentality.

Their use of expanded theatrical elements and elaborate stage displays continues in the spirit of the later Floyd lineups of the 1980s. The band is also known for recreating entire albums as part of their show, accepting requests from fans and for taking an A to Z approach in which one song is played for every letter of the alphabet.

The Machine has touched the hearts and souls of many, selling out theaters, large clubs and arenas across North and Central America, Europe and Asia. They have also appeared at renowned music festivals such as Bonnaroo, Riverbend, Gathering of the Vibes, Buffalo’s Artpark and Germany’s Rock of Ages, in addition to sharing the stage with full symphony orchestras including the Atlanta, Detroit, Pittsburgh and San Diego symphonies.

The Machine consists of founding members Joe Pascarell (guitar and vocals) and Tahrah Cohen (drums), along with long time stagemates Ryan Ball (base and vocals) and Scott Chasolen (keyboards and vocals).

The Jody Raffoul Band will open Harborfest 2011 on the NRG Lakeview Stage July 28 beginning at approximately 7 p.m.

Raffoul, a native of Southern Ontario, Canada, has opened for such artists as Collective Soul, Kid Rock, Nickelback, Joe Cocker, Blues Traveler, Richard Marx, Counting Crows, The Allman Brothers Band, Uncle Kracker, John Entwhistle, Chris Isaak, Paul Rodgers and most recently Bon Jovi.

Harborfest 2011 is scheduled for July 28-31.
