The Sounds of the Jazz Mafia Trio Opens Stand-Up Comedy Night

Joe Cortini & his Jazz Mafia trio will open the evening at the YMCA’s Laugh Out Loud (LOL) Comedy Night and Auction Sponsored by Compass Federal Credit Union on Friday, March 29th

OSWEGO – On Friday, March 29, Joe Cortini and his Jazz Mafia Trio will kick-off the Oswego YMCA’s Laugh Out Loud fundraising event at Curtis Manor in Oswego. Doors open at 6pm with cocktails, appetizers and live music from the trio. The comedy show featuring Gomez Adams and Nick Marra will follow at 7pm. The evening is being presented by Compass Federal Credit Union.

The trio, led by drummer Joe Cortini, with Dave Solazzo on piano, and Matt Vacanti on bass, is known for their hard-swinging style. Bass player Vacanti noted that the trio with Dave and Joe truly raises the bar when it comes to straight ahead jazz. Dave Solazzo added that “these guys make it easy for me to stretch out on the piano, which is something you don’t find everyday”.

Cortini, who will also serve as the evening’s emcee, said that the trio has a blast each and every time they play and is truly looking forward to being featured at the event.

This fundraising event kicks off the YMCA’s Annual Campaign which sustains the Y’s financial assistance program. The Annual Campaign give the YMCA the capacity to connect, support and serve thousands of children, teens, families, adults and seniors each year with programs and service that make the greater Oswego Community stronger, and allows individuals the opportunity to learn, grow and thrive. In 2023, the YMCA amplified its impact providing over $87,000 in scholarships to make sure that YMCA programs and services are available to everyone in the community, regardless of income.
