OSWEGO, NY – Willow Tree Farms, an Oswego-based equestrian center located on West Lake Road in the Town of Oswego, will be holding “Christmas at the Farm,” a holiday mini-camp for children aged 6-12 on Dec. 6 and 13 from 9 a.m. to noon.

The camp will include horse/pony rides, arts and crafts, and cookie decorating. The camp will deliver an overall learning experience by providing hands on interaction with the horses and the barn.

The farm will also be offering pony rides on Nov. 23 from 1-3 p.m. with cider and snacks.

The cost will be $5 for 5 trips around the indoor ring.

Sign ups for the Christmas mini-camp will be available that day.

“We’re very excited about our mini-camp this Christmas season,” said Willow Tree Farms’ owner Kristin Shanley. “We have a lot of fun things planned, and it will give families an opportunity to see the newly renovated facility, learn more about our lesson and boarding programs, and see the horses and ponies at the farm.”

The cost for each camp is $35 per child.

There is limited space available for each session, so be sure to contact Kristin at (315) 561-1124 to reserve a spot.

A full-service equestrian center, Willow Tree Farms offers 19 stalls, an indoor/outdoor arena, multiple outdoor paddocks for daily turnout, a heated tack room with observation area, full bathroom, and an apple orchard.

Formerly Lakeview Farms, the new facility opened this past April.

Willow Tree Farms now offers boarding and riding lessons with an on-site instructor, for both children and adults throughout the region.

Abby Burke, the new Willow Tree Farm manager, will be providing the riding lessons at the two-day camp.

Burke started riding in 1993 at a local farm where she trained in Hunters/Jumpers/Equitation.

She began showing at the local level in 1996 and later moved on to rated shows such as HITS and local Syracuse PHA shows.

She also assisted in starting her college’s IHSA team where she held positions as vice president and then president while competing in the IHSA for two years.

Abby has been active in 4-H and has rode various horses and ponies of multiple levels over the years.
