Youth Bureau Announces 2010 Traveling Arts in the Parks Schedule

OSWEGO COUNTY – The Oswego City-County Youth Bureau announces its summer schedule for the Traveling Arts in the Parks series. Each event is free and open to the public.

Glenn Colton kicks off the 2010 season with a 1 p.m. performance on Tuesday, July 6 at Scriba Town Park on O’Connor Road. For nearly 20 years, Colton has performed thousands of energetic concerts for children, parents and teachers. A performing artist, songwriter and author, Colton promotes the power of healthy choices through respect, responsibility, friendship, and good manners.

The dynamic Wade Live Show offers two performances this season. The first show begins at 1 p.m. on Monday, July 12 at the David C. Webb Memorial Park on Route 49 in Constantia. The second program starts at 1 p.m. on Wednesday, July 14 at the Fulton War Memorial on West Broadway. With neon-colored doves appearing from thin air, and a bowling ball from a pad of paper, this is not your typical magic show.

Mega Bubble Man will burst onto the stage at 1 p.m. on Saturday, July 17 at the Granby Town Hall on county Route 8. A great entertainer and motivator, Mega Bubble Man grabs your attention and leaves a lasting impression. Come and be amazed with this fun performance.

The Show of Love program will be featured in three different venues this summer. The first performance takes place at 10 a.m. on Thursday, July 22 in the Palermo Town Park on county Route 45. The second begins at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, July 27 in the Volney Town Hall on county Route 6. The final show starts at 10 a.m. on Wednesday, July 28 in the Cleveland Village Park on North Street. This program is an interactive presentation that focuses on character education through a blend of music, entertainment and fun competition.

Wacky Chad closes out the season with a lively performance at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 3 in Goettel Community Park on U.S. Route 11 in Central Square. Chad juggles torches and jumps rope while riding his seven-foot unicycle and telling hilarious jokes to kids of all ages.

Traveling Arts in the Parks is funded by Oswego County, the Oswego Children’s Board, the New York State Office of Children and Family Services, and participating town and city municipal programs.
