Five Charged In Oswego Meth Lab Bust

OSWEGO, NY – On Thursday, January 12, shortly before 1 p.m., investigators with the Oswego County Drug Task Force, went to 264 George Washington Blvd. (apt B), Oswego, in conjunction with an ongoing methamphetamine investigation.

Shortly upon arrival, investigators determined that methamphetamine was allegedly in the process of being manufactured by the occupants of apartment B.

The occupants of apartment B were detained at that time and are listed as follows:

• Marshall J. Butler, 33, of 264 George Washington Blvd. Apt B, Oswego
• Christopher A. Burr, 30, of 90 Canal Road, Phoenix
• Karen M. Aubertine, 30, of Homeless.
• Hugh R. Calkins III, 29, of 35 W. Third St., Oswego
• Rose M. Johnson, 28, of 35 W. Third St., Oswego

Investigators further learned that Calkins’ and Johnson’s two children, under the age of 16, were also in apartment B.

Upon the apartment being secured, investigators  ultimately obtained a search warrant in support of their investigation for methamphetmaine production occurring at 264 George Washington Blvd. (Apt B) Oswego, police said.

The New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team was requested to the scene for processing.

As a result of the search warrant execution, materials and equipment used to manufacture and possess methamphetamine were reportedly seized from the residence.

Investigators further discovered and seized small amounts of methamphetamine, according to the police report.

Butler was arrested and charged with:
Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine in the 2nd degree – Class C Felony
Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Class A Misdemeanor

He was arraigned in Oswego City Court and remanded to the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $10,000 Cash $20,000 Bail Bond.

He’s scheduled to return to Oswego City Court on 01-17-17.

Burr was arrested and charged with:
Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine in the 2nd degree – Class C Felony
Unlawful Disposal of  Methamphetamine Laboratory Material – Class E Felony
Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Class A Misdemeanor

He was arraigned in Oswego City Court and remanded to the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $7,500 Cash $15,000 Bail Bond.

Burr is scheduled to return to Oswego City Court on 01-24-17.

Calkins III was arrested and charged with:
Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine in the 2nd degree – Class C Felony
Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Class A Misdemeanor
He was arraigned in Oswego City Court and remanded to the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $2,500 Cash $5,000 Bail Bond.

Calkins III is scheduled to return to Oswego City Court on 01-17-17.

Johnson was arrested and charged with:
Endangering the Welfare of a Child – Class A Misdemeanor

She was issued an appearance ticket and is scheduled to return to Oswego City Court on 02-09-17 at 9:30 a.m.

Aubertine  was turned over to New York State Parole on a warrant and may be facing charges in connection with this case.

Calkins’ and Johnson’s children were turned over to a family member.

The Unlawful Manufacturing of Methamphetamine in the 2nd degree and  the  Endangering the Welfare of a Child charges; are based upon the allegation that  children under the age of 16 was present while methamphetamine was being manufactured by Butler, Burr and Calkins.

The Oswego County Drug Task Force is comprised of members from the Oswego County District Attorney’s Office, Oswego County Sheriff’s Department, NYS University Police at Oswego, U.S. Border Patrol, Fulton City Police Department and Oswego City Police Department.
