FULTON, NY – Fulton Rotary program chair Nancy Kush Ellis, left, introduced Kelly Weaver, center, our guest speaker who explained the work that Friends of Fulton Parks has been doing to improve play in our parks.
Noon Rotary Club President, Bridgette Seguin, is at the right.
Weaver did a nice presentation of how play and the importance of free play, is important to child development.
Friends of Fulton Park has a mission to bring play back to our parks.
This is an all-volunteer organization.
They have completed some projects such as installing soft land material in the parks.
Recently they have been busy installing new equipment in the parks.
This is a collaboration of residents who have strengths in many areas.
Also, a play specialist will be on site to direct the best placement of the equipment.
Volunteers will cut and dress up the lawn areas.
Weaver told the Rotarians that the goal for next year is Recreation Park.
The vision for this park is a ropes course, a boulder climbing exercise and family friendly park equipment.
This park is geared toward teenagers and the students in Junior high and high school have offered much input.
The pavilion at Recreation Park is being renovated.
The alumni of Fulton High School have generously donated to this project.
Thank you to the Friends of Fulton Parks for its effort in volunteering to improve our city parks in these hard times.
More volunteers are needed.
