Fulton CROP Hunger Walk Coming October 16

FULTON – The Greater Fulton Area Council of Christian Churches is joining with other communities around the United States in hosting its annual CROP Hunger Walk on October 16.

CROP is an acronym for Communities Responding to Overcome Poverty and this year Fulton is holding its 30th Walk for Hunger for CROP.

The goal locally is $9,000 and 125 walkers.

Looking to make a difference in these trying times, the Fulton CROP Hunger Walk will help alleviate hunger and poverty here in our community and around the world.

A portion of the funds (25%) raised here in Fulton will go to the Prince of Peace’s Blessings in a Backpack which packs food for 125-150 youngsters in the four Fulton area elementary schools to tide them over on weekends during the school year.

Also being supported by the walk is the All Saints Episcopal Church’s Tuesday night free meals and three food pantries located at Dexterville Community Services, Oswego County Catholic Charities and Salvation Army.

Church World Service, the sponsor of CROP Hunger Walks, uses its 75% of the monies to reach out to the world and aid in emergency disaster relief, refugee resettlement, and self help initiatives around the globe so people can build their own community wells and have the resources to improve their lives.

Church World Service Is an international relief agency made up of more than 37 denominations.

As Fulton celebrates its 30th CROP Hunger Walk everyone in the community is encouraged to join in the celebration and walk with their friends, neighbors and area business community to make a difference “Ending Hunger one step at a time.”

here will be two routes for the walk on October 16: the Golden Mile and the 5K route.

Registration will be at 1 p.m. at the Fulton Municipal Building’s Community Room and walks will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Participants in the walk are encouraged to secure pledges from their family and friends in support of their walk.

The community is invited to walk or support the walkers with a
donation and pray for the CROP Walk and the hungry and needy it supports.
