FULTON – CNY Arts Center’s Arts Hotspot, 47 S. First St ., is gearing up for a full weekend of entertainment options June 16 and 17 including comedy for young and old(er) and a spotlight on two local authors.

HotSpot is directly across from the town gazebo where the work of noted photographer Kelley Parker is also on display for public viewing.

Comedy Improv night kicks off the weekend fun June 16 at 6:30 p.m. with Slouch Hat Improv Troupe, a select group of kids aged 7-16.

The youth have been fine-tuning their funny bones for several months and are ready for their second performance taking on the audience’s best suggestions for comedy on the spot.

Tickets are available at the door.

Slouch Hat will be followed by Top Hat Comedy Troupe, the adult (for mature audiences 17+) improv company who will continue the laughs at 8:30 p.m.

The evening of comedy is a quarterly event for CNY Arts Center and helps actors hone their skills and wit with funny, often unpredictable outcomes. It will be a night of laughs and good friends!

Tickets available at the door, discounted if attending both youth and adult shows.

Author Spotlight, another quarterly event that features visiting authors from the CNY region returns the following day, June 17 from 2-4 p.m. at the same location.

The event will spotlight local residents Leon Archer and Bob Green.

Archer is a well-known local sportsman and contributing writer to the Valley News. His novel “Second Lives” features a departure from non-fiction into a romance novel which is receiving stellar reviews online such as “…The author gives great insight into the main characters,” and …Second Lives may be the best story I’ve read this year.”

Hailed as “not a typical romance novel, but a love story with a believable plot and captivating story line” the characters Roland and Sherry rediscover a relationship that began in high school but find things don’t always go according to plan.

Copies of the novel will be available for purchase and signing.

Bob Green is the second featured author being spotlighted bringing a lifetime of experiences and adventures under one title, “As Time Goes By: My life Story”. Bob is an iconic figure in the county of Oswego known for his public service with several non-profit organizations, his skill and expertise with boat building, and most recently as an advocate of keeping the environment free of littering by launching the Green Team.

He was recently a guest of Assemblyman Will Barclay on a tour of the State Assembly House in recognition of his years of community service and dedication.

Author Spotlight is a Q&A style event with book signing and is always free to the public.

Green has designated all sales of his book to the campaign for the new Community Arts Center.

Currently on display the Art Hotspot is the Wildlife Art photography exhibit of Parker, a fine art photographer based in the Syracuse area.

Her primary focus has been on nature/wildlife photography. Recently, her working preference is transferring her photographs into works of art through the use of textures.

Her work has been shown at various exhibits in the Syracuse area, including the Everson Museum of Art and can also be found at www.kelleyparker.gallery.
