The fifth annual Oswego International War of 1812 Symposium will be held April 17 to 19 at the Lake Ontario Event and Conference Center, 26 E. First St., Oswego.

The event features lectures by top experts on the War of 1812 from Canada and the United States.

Oswego was attacked by the British twice during the War of 1812.

The British were driven off in 1813, but returned in 1814 with an overwhelming amphibious force which took Fort Ontario after a stubborn two-day defense.
