Lathrop recently received the association’s Shirley Chillson Cianfarano Memorial Scholarship.

The award is given annually to a student who exemplifies characteristics that Cianfarano exhibited throughout her life in the Hannibal community.

“Shirley was dedicated to the community, had strength of character, pride of workmanship and was a leader,” said a scholarship chairperson. “Alexis exemplified these attributes that were so much a part of Shirley.”

Lathrop is currently studying adolescent education with a concentration in math.
