HANNIBAL – A murder mystery unfolded on stage inside the Hannibal High School auditorium recently, as student actors performed this year’s senior play.
Nearly two dozen seniors entertained the audience in separate performances of “The Murder Mystery at the Murder Mystery.”
The play-within-a-play begins with the cast acting out a scene for a new show at the Murder Mystery Playhouse.
When a character is murdered on stage during the rehearsal, the remaining cast members try to determine who the murderer is without being killed themselves.
The “whodunit” show featured plenty of suspense while the actors tried to solve the murder mystery.
“This is a fun play for these kids,” said Pete Mahan, one of the directors of the show. “Only two of the 23 students had ever been on stage in a speaking role before, so it’s nice to see the progress they have made. They are fearless and we have truly enjoyed working with this group of students.”
The play was also under the direction of Shirley Terrinoni and Julia Preston-Fulton.
