Harborfest Children’s Gala Set to Kick Off Harborfest Week

OSWEGO, NY – This year’s Children’s Gala is set to take place on July 23 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Breitbeck Park Food Tent.

Tickets are $5 to attend and include the cost of food and all activities. Everyone, parents included, must have a ticket to attend, with the exception of children under the age of one year.

This year’s gala is presented in part by the SUNY Oswego Office of Business and Community Relations.

Consistent with the Harborfest theme, “Celebrate Oswego,” the Children’s Gala aims to evoke the feelings of Oswego in its heyday with an Old-Timey Themed Carnival.

Best fit for children ages 2 to 12, activities range from jewelry making and arts and crafts to an obstacle course and scavenger hunt.

Traditional carnival food will also be served.

“We’re working hard to give children and their families a quality event,” said AmeriCorps member Elyse Cianfarano who is working with the Children’s Committee and will bring fitness-themed activities to the gala. The gala will also host children’s gardening activities and the first Harborfest T-shirt workshop, among others.

Tickets are currently available at the Harborfest Office at 41 Lake St., the Oswego YMCA, Children’s Museum of Oswego events, and Mother Earth Baby located at 70 W. Bridge St.

Please call the Harborfest office at 343-6858 with any questions.
