OSWEGO, NY – The Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour will make their first of three trips to Oswego Speedway on Saturday for the running of the 75-lap Richie Evans Memorial special presented by RJ Caruso Tax & Accounting and A&P Auto Parts.

Top contenders Matt Hirschman, Chuck Hossfeld, Austin Kochenash, Daren Scherer, and Erick Rudolph are all expected to be in competition at the prestigious event.

Matt Hirschman enjoys Oswego Speedway victory lane during last year's Richie Evans Memoral, his first of three Speedway wins in 2013.

Hirschman, defending champion of the Speedway’s Evans Memorial, has simply dominated the Steel Palace over the course of the last two seasons.

In 2012, Hirschman placed third in the Evans Memorial 75 behind Kyle Ebersole and JR Kent before returning to the Speedway in July to claim his first career Race of Champions Modified 200 victory.

Last season, Hirschman earned a hat trick at Oswego, winning all three RoC Modified events at the fast 5/8 mile oval, beginning with the Evans Memorial in May.

The month of July would see Hirschman again return to victory lane for his second consecutive Race of Champions Modified 200 triumph, and he sealed the deal during Budweiser International Classic Weekend in August, claiming the Race of Champions Modified Classic 100 victory.

Hirschman’s dominance has continued into the 2014 season with wins in each of the first two Race of Champions Modified Tour stops.

The defending Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour champion, Hirschman visited victory lane at Chemung Speedrome on May 4 ahead of rival Hossfeld.

The duo of Hirschman and Hossfeld again led the way last Sunday at Shangri La II Speedway with Hirschman getting the better of Hossfeld for the win yet gain ahead of Kochenash, Patrick Emerling, and Jimmy Zacharias.

Hirschman and Hossfeld are expected to continue their duel at the high speed confines of the Steel Palace this Saturday night.

Each of the first two Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour stops has seen tremendous fields with at least 24 racers in each show.

Coupling the large field of RoC Modifieds with over 25 Novelis Supermodifieds and Pathfinder Bank Small Block Supers, fans will see one of the largest asphalt racing fields anywhere in the region this coming weekend.

The Richie Evans Memorial 75 is the first of three Race of Champions Asphalt Modified Tour stops at the Speedway over the course of the 2014 racing season.

The tour will return to Oswego Speedway for round two on Friday, August 29 as a part of the 58th annual Budweiser International Classic Weekend, with a 100-lap event presented by Corr/Pak Merchandising of Canada.

The final of the three Modified tour stops at the Speedway will be for the grand-daddy of northeast Modified racing, the SUNOCO Race of Champions Modified 200 on September 14.

Saturday’s Richie Evans Memorial will see grandstand gates open at 2 p.m. with the beginning of hot laps.  Heat racing will take the green flag at 5 p.m. beginning with Small Block Super heats followed by RoC Modified heats and Novelis Supermodified heats in that order.

Grandstand general admission is $25 with padded reserved seating available for $30.  Pit admission is $35.

As always during the regular season at Oswego Speedway, kids 16 and under will be admitted free with a paid adult and active military are also free with proper identification.
