Edward G. Lewis was charged this evening (Feb. 12) with Manslaughter in the first degree, a class “B”felony.
OSWEGO, NY – The investigation into the death of 2-year-old Jeremiah M. Jones is continuing, state police said today (Feb. 10).
The Oswego County DA’s Office and investigators with the NYSP are continuing their investigation with the Monroe County Medical Examiner’s office.
Additional charges are pending later this week.
The victim died at Strong Memorial Hospital in Rochester after allegedly being assaulted by Edward Lewis, 20, of 34 Hayfly Road on Feb.7.
The injuries, including bleeding on the brain, were alleged to have occurred as a result of Lewis violently shaking the child and causing the child’s head to strike the floor.
Lewis was charged with two counts of Assault 2nd degree (D Felony) and one count of Endangering the Welfare of a Child (A Misdemeanor).
He was remanded to the Oswego County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
