Kush Scores Liberty League Weekly Award

William Smith College senior Kristen Kush (G. Ray Bodley/Fulton, N.Y.) was named a Liberty League Women’s Basketball Performer of the Week by the conference office today. She led the Herons to a 2-1 week by averaging a team-high 12.3 ppg.

On Tuesday against RIT, Kush notched 10 points and grabbed five rebounds as William Smith rallied from a 13-point second half deficit to win 67-63. On Friday at St. Lawrence, she scored a season-high 16 points and grabbed four boards in a 78-60 loss. Kush closed out the week with 11 points and three rebounds as the Herons dispatched Clarkson 73-57. For the week, she shot 50 percent from the floor.

Kush, who missed the non-conference portion of William Smith’s schedule due to a knee injury, has started nine of the 11 games she’s played in this season. She’s averaging 9.9 points and 3.5 rebounds while shooting 43.7 percent from the floor. Currently ranked 14th in career scoring at William Smith, Kush has 1,120 career points, 35 shy of No. 13 Trena Sutton ’88.

William Smith will be back in action on Tuesday, Feb. 7, when the Herons travel to conference rival Union (5-7, 9-11). Tipoff is scheduled for 6 p.m. Fans can follow the game with All-Access Video and Live Stats.

Following the Union game, William Smith will return home to host their final two home games of the regular season on Feb. 10 and Feb. 11.
