Laker women’s ice hockey team skates to tie

Potsdam, N.Y. – The Oswego State women’s ice hockey team (2-1-1) tied SUNY Potsdam in an overtime ECAC west battle Sunday, 1-1.

The Lakers shot three times in the first three minutes of the game before Bridget Hamlin scored the first goal of the game at 3:06. Chelsea Hunt assisted Hamlin with the goal.

The scored remained 1-0 in favor of the Lakers until the second period when Jocelyn St. Clair was given a two-minute penalty for checking.

Potsdam’s Amanda Lucky scored the game-tying goal with an assist from Brittany Lucky at 18:20 in the second.

The third period was quiet on both ends, with Oswego shooting six times.

The team took 25 total shots in regulation. The Lakers were able to shoot six more times in the overtime period, with two of the shots coming from Megan Hagg. Potsdam did not take a shot in overtime, finishing the game with 25 total shots.

The Lakers will return home to take on Neumann College in two ECAC West games next weekend. Oswego will play at 3 p.m. on Saturday and 3 p.m. on Sunday.
